Convergence
48 x 60 oil
1970s

(Collection of Grace Kerr, Arcata, Calif.)

This is the most sizeable painting I have in my collection.
It seems right that such a powerful stormy sea be at least this large,
making the viewer feel like they may be hit with a wave at any time!
Never turn your back to the sea, Dad always warned us!
-- Grace Kerr

"I've been collecting art for 14 years. I've always felt that Vernon Kerr
was one of the very good artists of the early California Painters..."

Untitled, Laguna Beach gazebo & trail
64 X 24 oil
1960s

(Collection of Elizabeth Nelson Gable)

We have had a Vernon Kerr Laguna painting in the family for some time,
and recently it was willed to me.
[The first owner was Agnes Mugrage who lived in Laguna Beach. Then it went to her sister and brother-in-law Ruth & Leonard Bishop.] I used to visit my Aunt's in Laguna Beach and they took me to many artist's studios. This particular
painting was always my favorite as we used to walk along the path above
the ocean after dinner and watch the waves. Such incredible memories
captured so perfectly by Mr. Kerr.
...There are mornings we wake up and think we have oceanfront property right here in Colorado!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Nelson Gable

Sea Breeze

(Collection of Heather Hill, Virginia)

My mother, Eulalie G Hill, took art lessons from your Dad in the 1956-1964 timeframe in Laguna Beach, California. My Mom really admired your Dad and his art lessons were the highlight of her life.

(Collection of  Don Koubek, Mendocino, Calif.)

Don Koubek owns Vernon Kerr's former home/gallery in Mendocino, Calif. He hangs 14 Vernon Kerr paintings in his home, which is still used as a gallery and artist studio. Don, a portrait artist, brings artists together in his home on Monday mornings to paint from  a live model. (He is continuing a tradition that artist Vernon Kerr started in this home.)

I was fortunate to be the model on Labor Day of 2003. Don and his wife Gigi were gracious hosts who love this house and honor its history. I am grateful to them.  --- Grace Kerr
